Free WhatsApp message personaliser

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Paste a list and a message template with {column} placeholders and see exactly what each person would receive — before anything is sent. The list stays in your browser, so you can check a real campaign in a few seconds without uploading a single number.

The first row must be your column headers, and one column must hold a phone number. Tab- or comma-separated both work; quoted fields containing commas are handled.

What "personalising" a bulk message actually means

Personalising is a merge: you write one template, and each contact's own data fills the gaps. The gaps are the {column} placeholders, which match the header row of your list. If your headers are Name, Phone and Order, then Hi {Name}, your order {Order} is ready becomes a different sentence for every row, while you only typed it once.

This is the same idea as a mail merge in a word processor, with one important difference: a chat message reads as a note rather than a letter, so the personalisation has to be light. A single first name and one genuinely specific detail — an order number, a date, a pickup window — is usually enough. Everything past that starts to feel like a form was filled in for you.

How to write placeholders that never break

Placeholders fail in two ways, both easy to spot before you send. The first is a placeholder with no matching column: you type {Surname} but your header says Last name, so the token has nothing to fill it. This tool lists any unmatched placeholder by name so you can correct the spelling or rename the column. The second is an empty or malformed value in a row, which is why rows with a missing or too-short number are skipped and counted.

If your list lives in a spreadsheet, save it as CSV UTF-8 first. That keeps accents, non-Latin names and emoji intact, and it means the phone column is exported as text rather than being turned into scientific notation.

Preview first, then send

The point of previewing is to catch the mistakes that only show up at scale: a placeholder that resolved to nothing, a number that lost its country code, a template that reads fine for one person but oddly for another. Reading a handful of rendered lines takes seconds and is far cheaper than apologising to a list afterwards.

When the preview looks right, the same data is ready to send. Our guide to personalised WhatsApp messages walks through the wording and the send interval, and the extension itself imports the file and merges each row from the WhatsApp Web session you are already signed into.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool send any messages?

No. It only merges your list into your template and shows the result on the page. Nothing is sent, nothing is uploaded, and your contacts never leave your browser.

What format should the phone column use?

International format works best: the country code first, then the number, for example +12025550101. Spaces, dashes, brackets, a leading plus and a leading 00 are all stripped automatically before the number is shown.

Why are some rows skipped?

A row is skipped when its phone cell is empty or has fewer than seven digits, which is too short to be a real number. The summary line reports how many rows were skipped so you can go back and fix the source data.

Preview looks right? Send it to the whole list without copy-paste.

The extension imports your CSV, merges each row with your template and sends the result from your own WhatsApp Web session — one conversation at a time, with no Business API and no server.
